Great Commission University has been working with a professional grant writer seeking grant funding for preserving and restoring the historical St. James Chapel, a prestigious house of worship located at the Indiana campus and renown in the area for its outstanding architecture and high quality interior artwork.
Following a previous grant application, GCU is now preparing the application for a major grant amount through the Indiana Sacred Places program sponsored by the Indiana Landmarks Association. If successful, this grant would allow GCU to substantially complete the first round of urgent repairs at roof and masonry structures, preventing further damage at the building.
Once the building is safe, a longterm plan for complete restoration can be approached.
Being a registered national historic landmark, the Chapel is famous beyond the immediate surrounding of the campus and GCU is responsible to preserve it.
Prayers are requested for a successful grant application and the completion of the first part of repairs before the frost season.
